Wizards Unite – I feel so old!
I have been a massive advocate of the Wizards Unite® app launch and the added interaction/engagement it will bring to fans of JK Rowling’s Wizarding World. As a business we sell a lot of Harry Potter® and Fantastic Beasts® merchandise and this will surely only prove a positive for us.
I have been aware of Harry Potter since 2004 when I was a buyer at Asda, but I am one of those people who didn’t read the books when they initially came out. Thankfully, I have got myself caught up now through the enjoyment of my children who have appreciated the books, the films and at some point we will do the studio tour together!
In 2018 we started showing retailers our product lines and saw the hype build for the release of Crimes of Grindelwald®.
We weren’t disappointed with the film, although we think there needs to be more action with the Baby Nifflers, as we love their comedic element, but we did know an app was coming that was like the phenomenon of Pokemon Go®!
We waited, waited and waited! We followed fan sites and looked for sneak peaks. We got sucked in and followed all the teasers. We refused to give up on the dream of an amazing app - and then it was released 20th June 2019.
I downloaded it and almost immediately I feel like I am the old man that technology forgot! My boys have had to sort me out and set me straight and I’m now really getting into it, Level 4 if anyone is interested!
For those of you who are in the know, I hope you are enjoying it.
The press have been quick to say Pokemon Go was a bigger launch and generated faster uptake, but those in the know accept...
Harry Potter is for life not just for Christmas!
